FUNDRAISING – GENERAL

The West Potomac Crew Team is considered to be a club sport, and does not receive any funding form Fairfax County or from West Potomac High School. Rower dues cover less than half our expenses. In order to keep dues at a level that is affordable to a wide range of participants, and in addition to meet our team's financial needs, we conduct a variety of fundraising events to help meet our budget of approximately 150K. Participation from all crew families is essential. In addition, we receive a great deal of support in terms of funding and discounts from a number of local business and merchant. Thanks you!

To the WP Crew Team parents - Get Involved! It's essential, and it will help you learn something new while spending time around your teenagers.

Below is a listing of our various fundraisers and, as these events draw near, details will be provided in the Upcoming Events section of this website. So stay abreast and stay involved. We need you!

Grocery E-script

Sign up through Safeway – every time you use your safeway card while shopping, the crew team gets a percentage. There's also an online mall through E-script - check it out, and call Dixie Kirby for details.

Combined Federal Campaign

As a tax-exempt organization, West Potomac Crew Boosters is eligible for donations through the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area - the CFC Number is 29561. For more information, go to https://give.cfcnca.org/

Tur-Krew Trot

This is a 5K race starting and ending at Carl Sandburg Middle School. Scheduled for 11/18/2007 – All Crew Families will get their names on the T–shirt for a Donation of $25. Everyone come out and run, walk, cheer, volunteer! See the Upcoming Events section for a link to the race sign-up form and the sponsor form. Get in your exercise before Turkey Day!

Holiday Wreath Sales

Many people in the community regularly return to the West Potomac Crew wreath sales - We'll be at Carl Sandburg Middle School (back by the track) with the Athletic Boosters, from Nov. 24 through Dec. 16. Also look for sales at Belle View Elementary on Fort Hunt Road, on Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 24 – Dec. 16.

Tag Days

The WP Crew Tag Day is generally held in February - Crew Team members go out into the community, letting our neighbors know who we are, providing a schedule of upcoming regattas, and asking for donations to support the crew team.

Silent Auction

To be held in April this year - more details to come, but the Boosters organization will be looking into making this a 40th anniversary celebration as well.

Row-A-Thon

Row-A-Thon is a great opportunity for parents and community members to come out and see the Crew Team in action on the water. Crew Team members participate in head races, and everyone joins in a potluck lunch afterwards. Team members solicit sponsorships, and are awarded prizes depending on how much money they raise.
